Volunteers Pitch In on Days of Caring

DUBUQUE, Iowa - More than one thousand volunteers took Friday off work to do some work.

It was part of the Dubuque Young Professionals Community Days of Caring.

Volunteers spent the day scrubbing, painting, picking up trash and doing any other odd jobs local non-profits need.

The Dubuque YMCA closed for three days while volunteers worked on major clean-up projects there.

"It's a very big small town. People care about each other. People want to help their neighbors and that's how communities grow. And I can see that here in Dubuque," said Scott Earl of the Dubuque Community YMCA.

The Dubuque Days of Caring is continues on Saturday. More than 1,200 volunteers are pitching in.
