Volunteers Clean Up Iowa River in Iowa City

IOWA CITY, Iowa - With a touch of autumn in the air, a cleanup along the Iowa River in Johnson County Saturday.

About 70 volunteers worked along side city employees in Iowa City -- getting out onto the water in canoes -- for the city's third annual Iowa River Clean-Up Event.

The morning consists of a canoe trip but not one for leisure and a picnic. Nearly ten miles to clear the river of the trash that has built up throughout the decades.

And what did people find? Tires, metals and large plastic items.
