URBANDALE, Iowa (AP) — An Urbandale woman has been arrested on suspicion of writing a bad check to steal $3,000 worth of Girl Scout cookies.
The Des Moines Register reports that police arrested 59-year-old Denise Gordon-Kamm on Tuesday. Sgt. Gary Lang says Gordon-Kamm went to the Girl Scouts of Greater Iowa office in Urbandale on March 6 and bought several cases of cookies with a check. Lang says that when troop leaders tried to deposit the check, it bounced.
Lang says a woman from the Girl Scouts office visited Gordon-Kamm's house to try to recover the cookies Tuesday, then called police.
Police say some cases were discovered in Gordon-Kamm's car, but other boxes have not been found.
A phone number listed for Gordon-Kamm has been disconnected.
