DUBUQUE, Iowa - A Dubuque boy injured in a weekend shooting is out of the hospital. Doctors released the 16-year-old Monday morning.
The same shooting late Saturday night killed Marlon Barber Jr.,15. It all happened when a group of teens was leaving a house party just north of downtown Dubuque.
Almost 48-hours after the fatal shooting, police continue to search for answers. But the biggest question remains unanswered.
Police Chief Mark Dalsing is asking, "Who was the shooter? was there more than one shooter? "
Police are not saying if they found a gun at the scene. But they do believe they've identified all of the teens involved in the fight.
Dalsing said, "Some of these kids have been here for years. Maybe there may have been some gang history in their family years ago. But there's no indication that this was anything more than a dispute. "
Police say rumors and racial slurs are now flying on Facebook.
Dalsing said, "There is some pretty nasty stuff out there and quiet frankly it's disgusting. People should be ashamed of themselves that they've taken the loss of a young life to promote whatever agenda they want."
Some neighbors say they fear retaliation and want witnesses to come forward.
James Lightfoot said, "Everybody should just let the cops deal with it. Everything will get solved."
Police say the victim's families are cooperating and want to keep anyone else from getting hurt.
