Uncle of Missing Evansdale Girls Involved in Drug Overdose

EVANSDALE, Iowa - The uncle of two missing girls was involved in a drug overdose Thursday, investigators said. Waterloo Police said the FBI and DCI were investigating the incident.

Captain Rick Abben with the Black Hawk County Sheriff's Office confirmed Jeremy Cook, uncle of Elizabeth Collins, 8, and Lyric Cook, 10, overdosed. Jeremy Cook was taken to the hospital following the incident.

Lyric Cook and Elizabeth Collins have been missing since Friday, July 13th. Authorities reclassified their case last Friday from a missing persons case to an abduction.

Jeremy Cook's condition was not immediately available.
