SIOUX CITY, Iowa - The United States Marshalls arrested a Western Iowa man accused of shooting a police officer. They found Jamal Dean, 22, in Texas.

Police said Officer Kevin McCormick tried stopping Dean on Monday night for a traffic violation. McCormick was still in his cruiser when a man stepped out of the car and opened fire with a rifle. McCormick was hit in the head by a bullet fragment.

A local hospital treated and released Officer McCormick. Friday, authorities announced they were widening the the search area to Omaha and Denver. Authorities believed Dean has ties to the Omaha area.
