UNI Students Dance 12 Hours to Raise Money for Sick Children
By Brad Maxwell, Reporter
CEDAR FALLS, Iowa - For the Kids. It's a theme that was echoed on the University of Northern Iowa campus this weekend as close to 900 University of Northern Iowa students participated in the school's Dance Marathon Saturday.
They stood up for those who couldn't. That standing, and dancing, was nonstop for 12 hours. The students raised money prior to the event that would be donated to the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics and the Children's Miracle Network. The money will then be used for four things - research, education, equipment and enhancements. UNI Dance Marathon participants' goal was to raise $66,000 in their second year of the event.
Students started dancing at noon Saturday and continued until midnight. They also had the chance to hang out with and hear the stories of those the money they raised is benefiting.
