CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa - Many colleges and universities to not require their athletes to wear helmets when off the field and riding motorized vehicles like ATV's and mopeds. That includes the University of Iowa. Former Hawkeye football player Josh Koeppel was not wearing a helmet in August 2010 when he was hit by a truck while riding a moped. Koeppel only suffered minor bumps and bruises. KCRG TV 9's Beth Malicki spoke with The Gazette's Erin Jordan about this.
