Two of Three Escaped Teenagers Found in Cedar Rapids
CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa -- Two of three teenagers who escaped from a state-run school for delinquent boys last week have been captured in Cedar Rapids.
Cedar Rapids police arrested a 17 year-old on Monday afternoon at a home in the 1400 block of Fifth Avenue SE. On Sunday night, police found a 16 year-old hiding in the area of 21st Avenue and Haven Court SW. Both boys were originally from Cedar Rapids and will be returned to the Eldora State Training School.
The two Cedar Rapids boys were among a group of 8 teenagers who ran from the school on Thursday evening. Five of the boys were captured within an hour. With these two arrests in Cedar Rapids, only one boy remains at-large.
The training school is a 130 bed facility aimed at rehabilitating delinquent boys. Judges will sentence boys ages 12 to 18 to attend the facility for committing certain crimes.
