LINN COUNTY, Iowa - A Cedar Rapids teenage driver and a 10-year-old Des Moines boy suffered injuries in a read-end collision just outside Cedar Rapids Friday evening.

The Linn County Sheriff's office says it happened just before 6:30 at Highway 13 and Mt. Vernon Road.

Deputies say Anand Darla, 42, of Des Moines was stopped for a red light on northbound Highway 13. They say a car driven by Jayden Barrett, 19, of Cedar Rapids struck Darla's van in the rear.

Deputies say Barrett and a male boy in the Darla van were transported to a Cedar Rapids hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. Investigators say all occupants were wearing safety belts.

Officers cited Barrett for Failure to Stop within the Assured Clear Distance.
