CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa - One adult and an infant have been transported to a local hospital following an interstate accident Wednesday evening, authorities said.

Officials responded to a two-vehicle accident around 5 p.m. near the intersection of L Street and Eighth Avenue SW. According to authorities, a sport-utility vehicle rear-ended a mini-van, both traveling southbound on interstate 380, when the driver of the SUV lost control of the vehicle, left the interstate and knocked down a fence that was near the interstate's side rails. The vehicle landed on its side down below on L Street near Eighth Avenue SW.

The occupants of the SUV were an adult male and an infant who were transported to a Cedar Rapids hospital for non-life threatening injuries, authorities said. Nobody was hurt in the minivan.

The accident remains under investigation.
