CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa – Alliant Energy customers on the southeast side of Cedar Rapids were without power Sunday morning. Two separate vehicle accidents hit some power poles causing the outage. During its peak 875 customers were without power. All power was restored at 6 a.m.
The first crash was a single vehicle rollover and it happened at 1 a.m. at Memorial Drive and Otis Road. Cedar Rapids Police told KCRG.com that 3 females were injured and sent to the hospital.
The second crash happened at 2 a.m. between 21st Street and 5th Ave SE. A driver crashed into the pole, but the driver was not there when officers arrived at the scene.
