ALLISON, Iowa - Two Parkersburg firefighters are recovering from injuries in a Butler County grocery store fire early Sunday morning that kept crews on the scene for more than 9 hours.
Allison Fire Chief Brad Cooper said his crew got the call that J & C Groceries, 306 North Main Street, was on fire at 4:21 a.m. Sunday.
Over the 9 hours crews fought the flames and started the investigation into a cause, Cooper said two firefighters, from Parkersburg and assisting on mutual aid, were hurt. He said he did not have any further information on their conditions.
Cooper said the building is a “total loss” and that there is substantial smoke and water damage to the adjoining two buildings. He added this fire does not appear suspicious but the investigation continues.
