Two Elderly Iowans Killed in One-Car Crash

MONTGOMERY COUNTY – Two elderly Iowans died in a one-vehicle car accident Friday in southwestern Iowa.

According to the Iowa State Patrol, Gladys Bowen, 78, of Imogene, and Hazel Hinkle, 87, of Emerson, were killed in an accident on Old Hwy 34, seven miles west of A Ave.

The report said the time of the accident is still unknown.

According to the report, Bowen was driving a Lincoln Town Car eastbound on Old Hwy 34, lost control, and entered the north ditch. The car then struck a concrete culvert and a creek bank.

Neither Bowen or Hinkle were wearing a seatbelt, and both were ejected out of the car’s right front door, the report said.

Both were pronounced dead at the scene, and the accident is still under investigation.
