Two Central Iowa Children Injured in Missouri Crash

DES MOINES, Iowa (AP) — Police say two Des Moines children have been injured in a crash on Interstate 55 in southeast Missouri.

Nine-year-old Cory Turner and four-year-old Cody Turner are listed in serious condition.

KCCI-TV reports that Investigators believe passengers were not wearing seat belts and young children were not strapped into car seats. They were thrown from the vehicle.

Police say a 1999 Ford was carrying three adults and seven children when it crashed.

A 13-year-old, a 10-year-old and an infant were killed.

The crash was near Hayti, Mo., on Sunday.

Missouri state police say the passengers were headed to Jackson, Miss., when a tire blew out close to the Hayti exit.
