Trial Set for Waterloo Man Charged in Son's Death

WATERLOO, Iowa (AP) — It will be next year before a Waterloo man accused of killing his infant 18-month-old son goes on trial.

Twenty-three-year-old Daniel Reddout is charged with first-degree murder and child endangerment in the death of his son, Kaleb, in April 2011.

Reddout appeared in Black Hawk County District Court on Thursday, where his trial was set for April 4.

Police were called to a Cedar Falls apartment to investigate a report of a child not breathing. An autopsy showed the boy died of asphyxiation. Authorities say Reddout cut off his son's airways to get him to sleep.
