SIGOURNEY, Iowa (AP) - There's a delay in the trial of Keokuk County Sheriff Jeff Shipley on a drunken driving charge.
Shipley was arrested on July 27 in Sigourney. He was off-duty and in private vehicle.
Shipley's trial in Keokuk County District Court was set for Oct. 3. A judge granted a continuance, but no new date was set. The judge scheduled a pretrial conference for Feb. 15.
Online court records show Shipley waived his right to a speedy trial on Wednesday. The judge delayed the trial on Thursday.
Shipley pleaded guilty in 2008 to drunken boating. In April, he and two deputies were involved in a deadly shootout with a man at a farmhouse near Sigourney. A deputy and the man were killed.
