Trial Date Set for Man in Toddler's Death
MASON CITY, Iowa (AP) A trial date has been set next year for a man charged in the 1994 killing of a Mason City toddler.
The Mason City Globe-Gazette reports Michael Cisneros' trial on a first-degree murder charge is scheduled to begin Feb. 17. It was originally set to begin Tuesday, but the 37-year-old waived his right to a speedy trial.
Cisneros is accused of killing 20-month-old John Joseph Snyder Jr. His father reported him missing on July 20, 1994. The boy's body was found a day later, snagged on a tree in nearby Willow Creek.
Authorities say DNA taken from Cisneors in 2012 matches DNA found on the boy's pajamas.
Cisneros has pleaded not guilty. He is being held in the Cerro Gordo County Jail on $500,000 bond.
