Traveler Praises Law Enforcement After Huge Crash

IOWA CITY, Iowa - A traveler involved in a weekend pile-up on Interstate 80 says law enforcement did an outstanding job helping victims to safety.

Robin Leenders of Lexington, Illinois sent an email to KCRG-TV9 praising officers response to the 30 vehicle crash near the Coral Ridge Mall exit Saturday morning.

"I think the local Coralville police and State troopers did an amazing job and would like to send a "shout out" to them," Leenders said in the email.

"Most of the time we complain about the police because they have the difficult job of correcting us when we break the law. But these guys were calm, compassionate and thorough and made our frightening experience just a little bit better."

Leenders said an off-duty state trooper also stopped to assist her after the crash, which shut down a large portion of the interstate for several hours.
