KIA Funeral
Lt. Col. Dennis Lee Eilers sons Brett, (left), and Curtis take a moment to thank the Air Force, for continuing to identify their fathers remains, during his memorial service at the First United Church of Christ, in Tipton, Iowa, on Saturday, June 29, 2012. Eilers enlisted in the United States Air Force during the Vietnam War, after attending Coe College's ROTC program. Eilers final flight was on December 24, 1965, when his plane was shot down. in 1977, Eilers status changed from MIA, to KIA. Now, 47 years after his plane went down the United States Air Force has been able to positively identify those found at the crash site. (Nikole Hanna/The Gazette-KCRG)
