Three Escape Waterloo House Fire Safely
WATERLOO, Iowa (AP) — Authorities say three people safely fled a Waterloo house after a fire broke out.
The Waterloo-Cedar Falls Courier reports that the blaze erupted a little before 4:30 a.m. Tuesday.
David Kelley says he awoke in the attic to a crackling sound and soon noticed smoke and flames. He says he went downstairs and woke up Lynette Magruder and a 4-year-old child, and all three escaped out the front door.
Fire Battalion Chief Marty Freshwater says the flames were contained to the attic but there was smoke and water damage to the first and second floors.
The fire cause is being investigated.
