Three Arrested In Waterloo On Gang, Weapons Charges

WATERLOO, Iowa - Three Waterloo men have been arrested on gang and weapons charges after gunshots rang out at a Waterloo home Sunday night.

Waterloo police were dispatched to 310 Oliver St. at 9:18 p.m. Sunday for a reported shooting. Officers found that the house at 310 Oliver Street had been struck by a shotgun round, but no one was injured.

The investigation lead to a a car being stopped at Glenwwod and Linden streets. The car was impounded and the occupants taken to the police station. Officers obtained a search warrant for the vehicle and found a sawed-off 12 gauge shotgun in the trunk.

Three Waterloo residents were arrested in connection with the shooting.

Aundaris Desean Reed, 15, of 1101 Franklin St., was charged with intimidation, gang participation, felon in possession of a firearm and unlawful possession of an offensive weapon. Anntwan Dayshawn Phillips, age 19, of 2822 Independence Ave., was charged with conspiracy, gang participation and possession of an offensive weapon. And Fredrick Williams, age 20, of 1113 Mulberry St., was charged with conspiracy, gang participation and felon in possession of a firearm.

Reed told police he had shot at the house. Phillips and Williams are charged with conspiring with Reed in the shooting.

All three were wearing purple items associated with a the “Midwest Mafia” gang, and all admitted to being members of the gang

Reed was being held at the North Iowa Juvenile Detention Center Monday, and Phillips and Williams was being held in the Black Hawk County Jail.
