Testimony Continues in Trial of Man Accused of Killing Pregnant Wife
MOUNT PLEASANT, Iowa (AP) — The close friend of a former Iowa jail guard accused of killing his pregnant wife says he warned his friend about his relationship with another woman.
The Ottumwa Courier reports Colton Millard testified Friday that he told Seth Techel he disapproved of his relationship with Rachel McFarland. He told Techel that he needed to end the relationship.
Millard also said Techel seemed excited about the baby that his wife, Lisa Techel, was expecting.
Techel is charged with first-degree murder and non-consensual termination of a human pregnancy in the May 2012 shooting death of Lisa Techel. Prosecutors say Seth Techel wanted to end his marriage to purse a relationship with McFarland.
Defense attorneys have argued that a neighbor may have killed Lisa Techel.
