CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa - A Cedar Rapids teenager is in custody after committing a robbery at a gas station Thursday afternoon.
Cedar Rapids police Sgt. Cristy Hamblin said the robbery occurred at Kum N Go, 3131 First Ave. NE, at 12:41 p.m. Thursday. The victims - three juveniles - pulled up to the gas station, went inside and came back out, Hamblin said. When they returned to their car, they noticed a vehicle parked next to them. Hamblin said two men got out of the second car. One of the men got into the victim's car and the second opened a passenger door.
Police said the two suspects demanded the juveniles' valuables.
The suspect vehicle was found parked a short time later. Police said one of the suspects - 17-year-old Jamal McKaufman - was located with the vehicle. He was taken into custody and faces one count of second-degree robbery.
He is currently in custody at the Linn County Juvenile Detention Center.
Hamblin said the investigation is ongoing and police are searching for the second suspect.
