KEOKUK, Iowa (AP) — A 19-year-old driver who has been charged with vehicular homicide is still in a southeast Iowa jail.

A Lee County jailer said Devin Lewis remained in custody on Tuesday, pending $50,000 bail.

The Lee County Sheriff's Office says a car driven by 35-year-old Howard Vincent, of Keokuk, collided with Lewis' pickup around 9:30 p.m. Friday. Vincent died at the scene of the crash, which occurred at an U.S. Highway 218 intersection near Keokuk.

The sheriff's office says Vincent was driving north on the four-lane highway and that Lewis' pickup was headed south in the northbound lanes.

Authorities say Lewis fled the scene on foot after the collision and was arrested at his home. Investigators are checking into whether Lewis had been driving drunk or otherwise impaired.
