ADEL, Iowa (AP) - An Urbandale Middle School teacher faces more than a dozen criminal counts after being accused of having sex with two students.

The Des Moines Register reports (http://dmreg.co/15eZinq) that 23-year-old Benjamin Joseph Hoffman was arrested Wednesday. He is being held in the Dallas County Jail on $25,600 bond and could not be reached Thursday morning for comment.

West Des Moines police say Hoffman had sexual contact with a 13-year-old student of his at Urbandale Middle School and a 14-year-old former student of Hoffman's while he was student teaching at Norwalk Middle School.

Hoffman is charged with 11 counts of third-degree sexual abuse, one count of sexual exploitation by a school employee and two counts of providing alcohol to a minor.

Urbandale Superintendent Doug Stilwell says Hoffman has been placed on leave.
