Teacher Accused of Sending Suggestive Texts

COUNCIL BLUFFS, Iowa (AP) — A Spanish teacher has been accused of sending inappropriate text messages and a nude photo to a student at his Council Bluffs high school.

A news release sent Thursday by the Pottawattamie County Sheriff's Office says the Lewis Central student told investigators that 30-year-old Daniel Pantoja started texting her in December. She says he once took her cellphone, found a picture of her wearing shorts and a sports bra and later asked her to send that photo.

She also says Pantoja sent a picture of a nude man who'd covered his genitalia with a hand.

Pantoja has been charged with sexual exploitation by a school employee and lascivious conduct with a minor.

A public phone listing for Pantoja couldn't be found. Online records don't include the name of his attorney.
