Suspicious Man in White Van Prompts Warning
WASHINGTON COUNTY -- The Washington County and Henry County Sheriff's Offices issued a warning after several suspicious incidents involving a man driving a white van.
It began with reports to the Washington County Sheriff's Office last week of a man asking strange questions at a home in Riverside about the backyard. The Sheriff's Office reports the same man was seen Thursday acting strangely in downtown Riverside.
Also on Thursday, the Henry County Sheriff's Office received reports of a man in a white van driving suspiciously slowly behind a school bus dropping off children. Later that day, a child in Winfield walking home from school noticed a white van following her. When she turned around, the van sped off.
The Henry County Sheriff's Office believes all of these cases are related.
The man in these cases is described as being in his mid 50s, 5'7" tall, with a beard and wearing grey cargo pants. The van in question is a white 1990s model Ford Econoline with a distinctive red stripe down the side.
If you have any information about these incidents or the van involved, the Henry County Sheriff's Office recommends contacting law enforcement immediately.
