Supporters ask Des Moines Board to Reinstate Coach
DES MOINES, Iowa (AP) - Supporters of Lincoln High School football coach Tom Mihalovich have asked the Des Moines school board to end his suspension and reinstate him.
Mihalovich was suspended amid allegations of excessive discipline.
Station KCCI says Mihalovich's backers and some family members attended Tuesday night's school board meeting to voice their support.
They presented a petition to school board members, saying it had signatures of more than 1,000 people who want Mihalovich back on the sidelines.
Administrators wouldn't comment on the investigation other than to say it is nearing completion.
If Mihalovich is not reinstated by then, Friday's game against Valley High School would be the fifth straight he's missed since his suspension last month.
