Suburban Des Moines Man Cited for Backyard Hunt

URBANDALE, Iowa (AP) - Authorities say a suburban Des Moines man has been cited for a squirrel hunt at his home.

The Des Moines Register reports that the 23-year-old was wearing camouflage clothing while hunting in his backyard in Urbandale on Friday.

Urbandale police spokesman Randy Peterson says the man was using a pellet gun to knock the squirrels out of his trees. Officers say they found two squirrel carcasses on the man's back deck.

The man has a valid hunting license, but he was cited for discharging a weapon inside city limits, a simple misdemeanor.
