FAIRFAX, Iowa -- Stolen wheelchairs that let people with disabilities play sports have been found hacked into pieces.

Sportability of Iowa says the pieces of the specialized wheelchairs were found a few weeks ago in Fairfax. The group says only one usable chair was recovered.

Someone stole the wheelchairs and the trailer they were in last December from the parking lot of the Stoney Point YMCA in Cedar Rapids. The empty trailer was found the next day just a few miles away.

Sportability of Iowa used the specialized wheelchairs to let people with disabilities play basketball and other sports. The group is now collecting donations to replace the chairs. click here to see how you can help.
