ARLINGTON, Iowa - A threatening note led to the evacuation of Starmont Schools on Tuesday morning.

The Fayette County Sheriff's Office tells that the note, found in a school restroom, indicated that an explosive device was set to detonate at noon in the high school library.

The building was evacuated and a search of the school was conducted. Students were moved to several churches in Strawberry Point.

Law enforcement officials allowed students back into the school around 1:20 p.m. after the building was deemed safe to finish out the school day.

An investigation into the incident is on-going.
