DUBUQUE, Iowa - The Dubuque School Board appointed Stan Rheingans as superintendent in a meeting on Wednesday.

Rheingans has served as the acting superintendent since May, after the board voted to terminate then-superintendent Dr. Larie Godinez. Godinez later resigned. Before that, Rheingans served as the district’s Director of Human Resources.

Rheingans has several years of teaching experience, as well as five years as a principal in Wilton. He’s been the human resources director for the Dubuque school district since 2004.

On Wednesday, School Board President Mike Donohue said Rheingans is absolutely the best candidate.
