Southeast Polk School Official Back on Job After Arrest
PLEASANT HILL, Iowa (AP) — The Southeast Polk Community School District's business director has returned to work after his arrest on suspicion of public intoxication.
Kevin Baccam, of Altoona, was arrested Saturday at Kinnick Stadium in Iowa City. A University of Iowa police officer says in a court document that he found Baccam sleeping in the stands around 8:30 p.m., after the game had started. The document says Baccam's breath test showed a blood alcohol content of 0.127 percent, well beyond the legal limit if he had been driving.
Baccam has pleaded not guilty and is scheduled for trial on Jan. 23.
The Des Moines Register says Southeast Polk officials released a statement Thursday that said they were disappointed in the circumstances of Baccam's arrest. The statement says Baccam had apologized for the incident.
