IOWA CITY, Iowa - Snow plows were out in Interstate 80 in Johnson and Cedar Counties before snow started falling across Iowa. Snow has already started to accumulate in surrounding cities, including Iowa City where roads are mostly covered as of 3 p.m.

On Interstate 80 snow isn't yet sticking to the roadway, although some accumulation is building along the sides of the interstate.

DOT trucks have been seen dumping sand on the roadway.

It's been a difficult winter on the Interstate, which has included significant car pileups, officer involved crashes and major damage to cable barriers along the roadway.
