CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa (AP) - A fire at the Archer Daniels Midland
plant in Cedar Rapids has been contained.

A smoldering fire at the dry-milling plant was reporting just before 8 a.m. Saturday. The Cedar Rapids fire department says plant workers used chemical extinguishers to help contain the smoke coming from a decanter centrifuge, a machine used to separate liquids and solids in the corn-milling process. Firefighters then took over.

The fire department says a belt on the machine likely
overheated, causing the smoke. No injuries were reported.
