Shutdown Keeping Ames Scientists From Experiment
AMES, Iowa (AP) - Two scientists at a federal laboratory in Ames fear their $250,000 experiment on animal heat stress is being ruined.
One of them, Heather Allen, told Des Moines television station KCCI that she and her co-workers aren't allowed into the U.S. Department of Agriculture lab during the partial government shutdown.
Allen describes the situation as "incredibly maddening."
Her co-worker That Stanton says they're not even allowed to go into the lab as volunteers to monitor their experiment.
Allen says she's nervous about all the lab experiments being spoiled and all the deadlines she'll be missing.
Another cause of concern for them: No paycheck.
