Fire Destroys Vacant Central City House

CENTRAL CITY, Iowa A house is a complete loss after crews battled a fire for hours early Tuesday morning.

It happened at around 1:30 a.m. at 8th Street and Commercial Street.

Firefighters say the home was a foreclosure property. No one was living there or inside when they arrived.

Investigators are working to determine a cause. Fire Chief Mark Powell said he suspected it was an electrical fire.

Powell estimated the damage at $50,000.
