Services Set for Eastern Iowa Native Killed in Afghanistan
DES MOINES, Iowa (AP) - A memorial service will be held this weekend in Iowa for an Army soldier who was killed in Afghanistan last month.
Twenty-five-year-old Sgt. Michael Ristau, of Rockford, Ill., was assigned to a Washington state unit when he died July 13 after an attack in the Zabul province. Ristau's funeral was held in Washington state.
The Iowa Army National Guard says a memorial service will be held on Saturday in Cascade in northeast Iowa, where his parents live. The memorial is at 11 a.m. at Cascade City Park.
Ristau is survived by his wife and two sons.
