Second UNI Presidential Candidate Announced

CEDAR FALLS, Iowa - The second candidate for the University of Northern Iowa presidency has been announced and will visit campus next week.
Avijit Ghosh is senior adviser to the president at the University of Illinois -- Urbana-Champaign. He will visit campus Wednesday and Thursday, with his public forum at 2 p.m. Wednesday in the Commons of Slife Ballroom. Ghosh earned his master's and doctoral degrees from the University of Iowa in 1977 and 1979.
A third finalist will be announced just prior to the last campus visit in early February. The state Board of Regents will interview the candidates at a meeting Feb. 7.

The new UNI president will succeed retiring President Ben Allen, who has led UNI since 2006.
