Searchers Find Missing Charles City Girl
CHARLES CITY, Iowa (AP) — A 10-year-old Nebraska girl reported missing for more than two hours has been found by searchers in northern Iowa.
A news release from the Floyd County Sheriff's Office says Zannah Garrett, of Omaha, Neb., and her 8-year-old brother were camping in the backyard of a residence about five miles southeast of Charles City on Tuesday night. When their parents checked on them around midnight, Zannah was gone.
Searchers found her around 2:30 a.m. Wednesday in the doorway of a horse barn about a mile away. Zannah complained of some pain, so she was taken to Floyd County Medical Center. Doctors determined that she wasn't injured.
Deputies learned that Zannah had left the backyard on her own to look for horses she'd seen earlier in the day.
