Scientists Seek Iowa Action on Climate Change
CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa (AP) - Scientists from 28 Iowa colleges and universities have called on political candidates and Iowa legislators to address the changes wrought by climate change.
A letter from 44 scientists was sent to state legislators on Tuesday. It seeks acknowledgement of climate change and appropriate policy changes in response. The letter was based on the January 2011 report "Climate Change Impacts on Iowa" that says changes in Iowa's climate are already affecting the state's economy and its residents. The report says there's a long-term increase in precipitation that is affecting eastern Iowa more than the west side of the state and a long term increase in temperatures. More Good Stuff |
