IOWA CITY, Iowa - Santa and Mrs. Claus made a special stop at the University of Iowa Children's Hospital Tuesday afternoon. The couple was joined by some 40 other volunteers who helped hand-out toys to patients.

"As you can imagine being stuck in the hospital over the holidays can be sad," said Emily Baxter, a member of the hospital's Child Life Department. "This brings a lot of smiles."

Lions Club members from the Clinton area put on the event. The group handed out hundreds of toys to patients and their families.

"We've got tons of toys, Christmas bears, books," said Sharon Witt, a Lions Club member. "Every year we've had the exact right toy(s) for the kids."

This is the 33rd consecutive year the group has delivered holiday gifts at the hospital.
