DES MOINES, Iowa - Des Moines police say up to a $2,000 reward is available for information leading to the arrest of a hit-and-run driver.

Des Moines police said Joan Haggar, 52, was crossing the street Friday in the 900 block of Euclid Avenue just before 11 p.m. when she was hit.

She died later at Mercy Medical Center.

Haggar lived several blocks away from where she was hit.

A witness told police the driver did not slow down after the collision. Authorities said they were looking for a mid-sized car, but did not have a make, model or year of the vehicle.

Investigators are asking anyone who may have witnessed the accident to please call 515-223-1400.

Crimestoppers offers up to $1,000 for information leading to an arrest and the Des Moines Police Department will match that reward. Tips can be anonymous.
