CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa - If you find yourself in a dining rut, consider taking a break from the usual and experiencing one of the many local restaurants Cedar Rapids has to offer.

Thursday, marks the start of Restaurant week in Cedar Rapids.

It's been done before in other big cities across the country. Now, for the first time, the Convention and Visitors Bureau is bringing it to Cedar Rapids.

Restaurants like Cobble Hill, Blue Strawberry, Batas and many others chose to take part. Nearly 20 restaurants in all are offering special menus with fixed prices. At lunch you get a 2-3 course meal or, in some cases, lunch for 2 for $15 and at dinner a 3 course meal for $25.

"It's really a chance for our local restaurants to show off. We want to encourage our residents to get out and dine out, take family and friends and try somewhere they haven't been before or haven't been in a long time, " said Jennifer Pickar, Cedar Rapids CVB.

Restaurant week runs through October 5th.
