MONTEZUMA, Iowa - Authorities are suspending the search for a man who fell through ice on Lake Ponderosa near Montezuma in Poweshiek County Saturday night.

The Poweshiek County Sheriff's Office says the ice is too thick and it is too cold to be searching in the water.

Dive teams from Johnson County and Des Moines were on the scene Saturday night and again Sunday about 1 p.m.

The Poweshiek County Sheriff's office says the man was riding an ATV when he fell through the ice. He had originally gone to the lake to fish.

The Sheriff's Office says he fell through the ice at the popular central Iowa lake around 7 p.m. The man has not been identified.
