Quad Cities Wants Boeing Assembly Plant

By Larry Burkum

DAVENPORT, Iowa - The Quad Cities is trying to woo a Boeing plant that could bring more than 8,500 jobs to the area.

The Moline Dispatch is reporting the Bi-State Regional Commission sent a letter to the governors of Iowa and Illinois, asking them to promote a regional bid for the multibillion dollar assembly plant.

Community leaders on both the Iowa and Illinois portions of the Quad Cities signed the letter. Davenport's mayor admits the bid is a long shot.

Illinois is among 22 states vying for the Boeing factory. The Chicago-based aerospace company is narrowing the list of potential locations. A final decision is expected early next year.
