DES MOINES, Iowa (AP) — President Barack Obama will visit with an Iowa family and talk about taxes during a campaign stop in Cedar Rapids.

Obama's trip on Tuesday includes a stop at Jason and Ali McLaughlin's home.

On Monday, Obama called on Congress to approve a one-year extension of the Bush-era tax cuts for families making less than $250,000. He says the outcome of his November election contest with Republican rival Mitt Romney would determine the fate of the tax cuts for families that make more than $250,000.

Following his visit with the McLaughlins, Obama will be at Kirkwood Community College for a speech that will focus on the economy. Doors at Johnson Hall open at 10:15 a.m. The event is scheduled to begin about 1 p.m.
