Family Escapes Overnight House Fire

HARTWICK, Iowa - A Poweshiek County family is safe Sunday morning after a fire in their home overnight. It started around 1 a.m. on the 33-hundred block of 240th Street northeast of Hartwick.

The Hartwick, Victor, and Belle Plaine fire departments helped battled the flames that were contained within an hour.

Hartwick fire fighters told KCRG.com that the fire started at the southwest corner of the house then spread to the interior wall. The cause of the fire is unknown. No one was hurt.
