CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa - The hot weather this week has many thinking of summer. And nothing says summer quite like spending the day lounging by the pool.

The city of Cedar Rapids is taking advantage of the nice weather to get the pools ready. This is the first year Jones pool will be open on Memorial Day weekend along with Bever Pool. That's because they've had such nice weather the past couple of years, Bever was packed on opening day. All six of the outdoor municipal pools will be open the following weekend and once school lets out they'll be open seven days a week.

Despite the cold and rainy weather we've had up until this week those with the Cedar Rapids Parks and Recreation Department say they are right on schedule for getting the pools ready to open

"A lot of cleaning is going on right now in the locker rooms, mowing the grass, pouring the chemicals in the water, all the pools are filled and starting to look crystal blue, " said Carolyn Hamilton, Aquatics Director.

Cedar Rapids Parks and Rec is busy testing the water this week to make sure all the chemicals are right, they are finishing up hiring and start training staff on Friday. Season passes to the pools are still available.
